Stats on the month board
Every opened row on the month board says the same things in the same order, about this board's points only: your row's games and days, then the month as a mark a day, then four records said in full.
Context
3.24.0 opened your own row on a four-number key (Daily, Longest, Trivia and "earlier"), five day bars whose numbers showed only on a tap, and the six stat rows from before: found the longest word first, words found, best single board, party games won, longest streak, days played. Ru found it overloaded, couldn't tell what "earlier" meant, wanted each bar part's points without a tap, and pointed out that Trivia had no record next to the other games' (best board for Daily, first finds for Longest).
The six rows were audited in 3.24.0: Party games won counts rooms, which bank no points to this board; Words found mixes Daily words with Longest word's tries and only breaks ties; Longest streak overlaps the "N day streak" line under a name.
Options
Every option was mocked with the game's own CSS at 390px and 320px before choosing, then built and shown running against stubbed data before anything was pushed.
| Option | What it did | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Clarify | "Oct 1–9" for "earlier", numbers in the bars, a trivia row | Clear, but the card got longer. Not chosen |
| Each game keeps its best | a record under each game's cell, "earlier" as a note | Shorter; Ru liked the direction, then found the short labels ("best run", "1× first") unclear |
| Calm (C) | the bests under the games, the month as a strip, words and party wins side by side | Chosen as the direction |
| C1, C2, C3 | quieter C; one chart for the month; the month as a calendar of tiles | Explored; not chosen |
| C, trimmed | cut words found, party wins and the best streak, records under each game | Chosen, with the records' copy said in full |
| One table / two tabs | records inline in a table; Points and Records tabs | Not chosen |
| Records as rows | the games, the note and the bars on your row; then the month; then four records as rows, said in full | Chosen by Ru, from the running build |
Decision
Every opened row says the same things in the same order. Your row: the month's points per game, the October note (+744 from Oct 1–9, before points were split by game), and up to five days with points as bars, each part carrying its points when it fits. Every row: the month as "N of M days" and a mark a day, then four records said in full: Best Daily board, Longest word found first (with the open lock in --earned), Best Trivia run, Longest streak.
The rules, now among the system's design rules as "Stats on the month board": every stat is about this board's points; nothing shows twice; each game gets a record; the records read the same on every row; something that only happens once (October's note) is a note, not a stat.
Best Trivia run and the month's marks are read from the day boards, like the 3.24.0 split: nothing new is stored. A streak under a name now shows only while it can go on (last played today or yesterday).
Evidence
Measured in Chromium against the real build, with the database stubbed (Oct 13, the owner's October):
| Your open row at 390px | 516px, from 526px in 3.24.0 |
| Someone else's open row | 296px |
| Reads on the first visit | 53 for the screen, 39 of them the month's day boards (three a day) |
| Reads on every later visit | 11, 6 of them day boards (yesterday and today) |
| Overflow at 320px | none; a bar part too thin for its number leaves it off |
| A streak that ended | Avra, last played Oct 9: no streak under her name on the 13th; Longest streak 6 days |
Consequences
- Words found and Party games won no longer show. Both are still banked, and words still break ties.
- The open lock keeps its green: it's the one green on the card, because finding the longest word first is earned. The green rule now names it.
- The first visit of a month reads every day so far; a busy month's first look is 93 small reads at the end of a 31-day month.
- The tap on a day is gone: there's nothing left to show.
- October's note goes away by itself in November.
