Points by game
Your own row on the month board opens on where your points came from, by game, with your last five days as bars. The split is rebuilt from each day's results, so nothing new is stored.
Context
Players asked how many points they get from each game. The month board showed one total per player, and the game leaderboards each end in their own measure: points on the Daily board, a time on Longest word, the number solved on Trivia. On the Trivia board the number solved sits where the other boards put points, and players read it as points.
The month total is stored as one number per player (season:{month}:{id}), so a split by game didn't exist anywhere.
Options
Every option was mocked with the game's own CSS at phone width before choosing.
| Option | Where points show | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Points on every leaderboard row | the right-hand number on all four boards becomes what that game paid | One unit in one slot; Longest word's time moves under the name. Not chosen |
| Points in the opened row | a fourth cell when you open your Trivia row | Smallest change, but the right-hand number keeps meaning three things; Longest word's row overflows at 320px. Not chosen |
| A line when you finish | "+30 pts to October · 873 total" at the top of the screen each game ends on | Points arrive when earned; leaderboards unchanged. Not chosen |
| A line on each Home card | "+37 pts" under each green card's result | Today's sum on one screen. Not chosen |
| A ledger in your month row | a table: one line a day, a column per game | Exact numbers that add up, but a wall of figures. Not chosen |
| Bars in your month row | the month's points per game, then the last five days as bars split by game, then the stats | Scans at a glance; a tap gives the numbers. Chosen by the owner |
Decision
Only your own row on the month board opens on the split, and it opens by itself when you arrive. Three cells give the month's points from the Daily board, Longest word and Trivia; each cell's swatch is the key to the bars. Under them, the last five days, newest first, one bar each, split in three inks of the same colour (--fg, --fg-soft, --fg-faint): a fourth hue would be a fourth meaning. Tapping a day shows its numbers in place of its bar. The stats that were in the row before follow underneath. Other players' rows open on their stats only.
The split is rebuilt, not stored: a day's points come from that day's own results (the entries the day's leaderboards read), scored with the rules in force since 2026-10-10 (SPLIT_FROM). Points banked before that were scored by older rules, so the month they fall in shows them as one "earlier" amount, and the cells always add up to the row's total.
Evidence
Measured in Chromium against the real build, with the database stubbed:
| October 12 (split from the 10th) | 136 + 95 + 65 + 577 earlier = 873, the row's total |
| November 6 (a full month, one day missed) | five days, the missed one reading "no points" |
| Reads, first look | three small entries a day since the split began: 9 on Oct 12, 18 on Nov 6 |
| Reads, every look after | none: a finished day is kept on the phone |
| Height before and after the numbers land | 170px (three days) and 234px (five days), unchanged |
| Overflow at 320px | none |
Consequences
- The split needs nothing new in the database and can't disagree with the day's leaderboards.
- October 2026 carries an "earlier" cell. From November every point has its game.
- A day is rebuilt with the rules in force since 2026-10-10. If a game's points ever failed to bank while its result saved (or the other way round), that day's split shows what the result is worth, not what reached the total.
- "Only you" is a choice in the app, not a lock: the entries the split is built from are the same ones every leaderboard reads.
- The six stat rows stay under the split. An audit found two that aren't about points (Party games won, Words found) and one that overlaps the streak line under a name (Longest streak); all six were kept for now.
- 3.25.0 (D-013) turned the "earlier" cell into a note, put each part's points on its bar (so the tap went), and replaced the six stat rows with the month and four records.
- The other directions stay open. Points on every leaderboard row, and a line when you finish, can still be added on top.
